Ken’s Airboat Rides is the realization of a lifelong love of the water and the outdoors and a desire to share this passion with everyone. Growing up in southeastern Michigan I spent my free time exploring the creeks, rivers and marshes, fishing on the Detroit River, and waterskiing on Cass Lake.
In 1980 I moved to Florida and thought I’d died and gone to heaven! Water everywhere! Diving the magnificent coral reefs, harvesting lobster, and offshore fishing filled every minute I could spare. In 2011 I also received my USCG, 50 ton Master Captain license.
Through the years I’ve enjoyed a variety of boats but my favorite, by far, is the airboat. They allow access to just about any area, land or water, where boats are permitted, and the unique beauty of the Florida Marsh never disappoints. There’s an endless exhibition of wildlife from birds to reptiles to bugs – a surprise around every turn!
These days my passion is still the water and wildlife but I get the most satisfaction when I can show folks the Marsh, and its inhabitants, “up-close and personal”. It’s a natural part of the Florida terrain that I hope everyone can experience at least once.
